Abstract

This study discusses the realization of three linguistic phenomena – the coordination by et 'and', the variation que/ce que 'that' in subordinate contexts and the null subject – in seven medieval texts relating to Norman customary law from the corpus compiled for the ConDÉ project. It argues that there could be differences between the literary texts and legal texts and that these should be considered when describing linguistic change.
