Abstract
This paper presents quantitative and qualitative analyses to answer the question how reformulation and other similar categories can be delimited (form-function tramp; Pons 2017). Specifically, our data focus on the relationship between paraphrase and reformulation, two functions closely related to reformulation (Antos 2011 [1982]) which show subtle differences not experimentally studied until now. In line with previous studies, this paper adopts a theoretical-experimental approach using eye tracking to identify different processing patterns associated with each function. These differences are also examined to account for the presence or absence of a discourse marker (specifically, the Sp. discourse marker o sea) in paraphrases and reformulations. For this purpose, the type and number of eye movements have been analyzed (fixations, regressions, saccades).
